What we Do

St Michael's Hospice Development Trust was created in 1984 a few years after the Hospice itself was created. We exist purely to raise money for St Michael's Hospice in Hastings, particularly for projects which in some way 'develop' the Hospice, for example through capital items.

We raise money mostly from those in the Hastings and Rother area, often through direct donations but also through some events. Our Patrons' Scheme is a way in which those who are able give at least £500 a year to the Hospice. Such generous support is at the heart of our approach. We also often receive significant one-off donations.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide financial support for the maintenance, expansion and development of the Hospice and to help St Michael's meet the ever-growing demands of the local community. We do this by raising money from companies and individuals, as donations and also by holding select fund raising events.

‘The support given by the Development Trust is invaluable as it enables us to undertake additional projects for the benefit of all those for whom we care, which would not otherwise be possible.’

Julian Avery, Chairman of St Michael’s Hospice and Development Trust Patron.
